Zuwena Jackson
Assistant Lecturer
Zuwena Jackson is a Lecturer at Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, a Master's in Soil Science and Land Management, and a PhD in Sustainable Agriculture with over 8 years of experience in agricultural research. Zuwena is an alumna of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE)-Tanzania, a program supporting women entrepreneurs women. Zuwena founded Asilia Mbolea, a social enterprise providing affordable, high-quality organic fertiliser. Zuwena's enterprise has uplifted more than 50 women involved in organic vegetable production at home, while raising awareness about the importance of nutritious and safe vegetables for both children and adults.
Zuwena is also an alumna of the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) and Planet Women leadership programs, which have deepened her commitment to transforming Tanzania’s farming systems. She now leads projects focused on regenerative farming practices that produce high-quality local food, enhance soil health, promote biodiversity, and help farmers adapt to climate change.
