Women and Water Convening


Yá’át’ééh friends! The Third Annual Women and Water Convening will take place November 5-7, 2025, this year on the Navajo Nation. 

When:

  • Wednesday, November 5: A full day for Diné water professionals and community members and allies who are working on the Navajo Nation.  

  • Thursday, November 6: A full day open to everyone.  

  • Friday, November 7: A half-day open to everyone. 

Where: Tuba City, AZ, Navajo Nation. Specific location details to follow.

Cost: It is free to attend the Women & Water Convening. Planet Women will cover the costs of catering, group meals, facilitators, and ground transport for meetings and activities in and around Tuba City. You are responsible for your own travel and hotel expenses. We have limited travel stipends available for those who need assistance with these costs. What: This gathering is co-hosted by Planet Women, Multiple Entities of the Navajo Nation, Sonoran Institute, Haury Center, Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy, The Chapter House LA, Mighty Arrow Family Foundation, and the Indigenous Women’s Leadership Network. Building upon the learnings and feedback from past attendees, the Third Annual Women and Water Convening will include: 

  • Educational workshops and learning about Colorado River policy, water management, Tribal water rights, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), food sovereignty, community problem-solving, and incorporation of traditional knowledge;

  • Indigenous voices, arts, and storytelling around the ways communities are impacted by both the re-Indigenization and ongoing colonization of land and water;

  • A special focus on well-being, including how wellness practices, mental health support, and mentorship networks can provide avenues for activists and conservation leaders to mitigate burnout and promote growth;

  • Discussion about how we can create opportunities for and build strong connections among youth, emerging professionals, and established leaders in the water world;

  • An art exhibition centered around water, featuring a range of works by emerging and established artists. 

Who can attend: This gathering is open to cisgender women, femme/feminine identifying, Two-Spirit, trans, genderqueer, and non-binary individuals and community members who are contributing to the stewardship and protection of the Colorado River Basin.
