Deepa Padmanabha

Deepa Padmanabha is Deputy General Counsel for Greenpeace USA.  She has been with Greenpeace since 2011 and is based in Washington DC.  Prior to joining Greenpeace, Deepa worked at a law firm and focused on whistleblower suits against pharmaceutical companies.

Currently, Deepa's focus is on defending Greenpeace against two lawsuits attempting to silence the organization's advocacy work.  She also advises on a variety of legal matters and manages criminal law cases on behalf of environmental activists who engage in peaceful civil disobedience to promote systemic change.  

Deepa obtained her BA from Emory University in 2003 and her JD from American University Washington College of Law in 2008.  Deepa speaks Spanish and Portuguese, and she enjoys running, biking, yoga, capoeira and chasing around her two young children.
