Adwoa Agyeman
Adwoa [pronounced ah-JWAH] has over 20 years of experience in global philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, and design. As a philanthropy professional, she has built strong local and global partnerships that integrate business, philanthropy, and community development, contributing to raising 5 million dollars in resources and 2 million dollars in pro-bono and in-kind support. During her career in grantmaking she managed a combined portfolio of 1000+ of domestic US and international grants totaling over $400 million, to scale and support efforts to advance human rights, the environment, gender equity, well-being, and economic inclusion. Her writing and thought leadership explore areas such as the intersection of technology and the nonprofit ecosystem; and new possibilities for the creative economy in the Global South, with an emphasis on local ingenuity and innovation, sustainable development, and gender equity. With a forthcoming MBA from Bologna Business School, her international positionality gives her a culturally rich perspective on social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, design innovation, globalization, community, and the future.
